Service

Service is an important part of recovery, it can help keep you sober. There are a number of great ways to get into service in our area. For the dates, times, and locations of our various Service Committees, including those not listed here, please see our Calendar.

Intergroup and Central Office Service

  • Outreach Volunteers
    Intergroup’s liaison with groups and meetings
    Sobriety requirement: one year
    Term: open, but at least one year
  • Diverter Volunteers
    Providing after-hours phone coverage
    Sobriety requirement: one year
    Term: open, but at least one year
  • 12 Step Volunteers
    Phone and visitation contact with callers in need
    Sobriety requirement: one year
    Term: open, but at least one year
  • Daytime Office Phone Volunteers
    Takes all incoming calls to Central Office
    Sobriety requirement: two years
    Term: open, but at least one year
  • Newsletter Volunteer
    Help prepare our monthly newsletter
    Sobriety requirement: open
    Term: open, but at least one year
  • Activities Committee
    Organize many great activities
    Sobriety requirement: 2 years
    Term: 2 years
  • Technology & Communications Committee
    To make sure we all get the word
    Sobriety requirement: one year for the chair, but membership is open to all
    Term: open, but at least one year

Home Group Service

In addition to the regular group positions of Meeting Secretary, Treasurer, Literature Coordinator, and Clean-Up, there are several positions that help integrate your group with the larger service structure.

  • Intergroup Representative (IGR)
    Represents the group at the Intergroup meetings and reports to the group
    Sobriety requirement: varies, usually one or two years
    Term: two years
  • General Service Representative (GSR)
    Represents the group at District meetings and reports to the group
    Sobriety requirement: varies, usually one or two years
    Term: two years
  • PI/CPC Committee Representative
    Our information voice to the general public and professionals
    Sobriety requirement: two years
    Term: open, but at least one year
  • H&I Committee Representative
    Carrying the message to those confined to correctional and mental health facilities
    Sobriety requirement: two years
    Term: two years
  • BTG Committee Representative
    Helping alcoholics just released from hospitals, treatment centers or correctional facilities transition to A.A. in their local community
    Sobriety Requirement: varies by position
    Term: 2 years
  • Grapevine Representative
    Provides the Grapevine for the group and advises on items available from Grapevine
    Sobriety requirement: one year
    Term: one or two years
